Bryce Townsend

BIO

In his position as CEO of GroupM ESP, Bryce sets the strategic vision and marketplace positioning for the agency as the Entertainment & Sports marketing consultancy within GroupM, the world’s largest media agency network. He has the accountability to work directly with the CEO’s of each the five GroupM media agencies (Maxus, MEC, MediaCom, MetaVision Media and Mindshare), and the heads of the other specialist companies within GroupM, as their primary interface for Sports & Entertainment partnerships support, across the spectrum of strategic advisory, negotiation, activation or property management.

With over 15 years of strategic consulting experience, Bryce also serves as an executive-level strategic counsel to clients and has developed innovative marketing solutions for a portfolio of blue-chip Fortune 100 brands across numerous categories, leading diverse internal & cross-agency teams in the strategy & activation of those programs. Bryce has driven the creation and negotiation of a number of high-profile partnerships such as forging SAP’s sports investment strategy through 1st ever partnerships with the NFL, NBA, WTA, Madison Square Garden and SF 49ers/Levi’s Stadium, Unilever’s multi-brand NCAA Corporate Partnership, Discover’s entitlement of the Discover Orange Bowl, BCS National Championship and NHL league relationship, Xerox’s global WTA partnership and VW’s national partnership with Major League Soccer.

During his tenure at GroupM ESP, Bryce has held several positions of increasing responsibility and organizational oversight including Executive Vice President, Senior Vice President & General Manager and Senior Vice President.

Prior to his arrival at GroupM ESP in 2007, Bryce was Vice President, Account Services at Momentum Worldwide, IPG’s global sports and entertainment marketing agency, where he was responsible for American Express’ global partnership events portfolio. During his eight year tenure, Bryce helped lead the creation of broad-scale, multi-channel activation platforms around some of American Express’ largest partnerships including the NBA, US Open Tennis Championships, Tribeca Film Festival, USGA, NCAA, Australian Open, Wimbledon and MSG/Radio City Entertainment.

Bryce was honored by the Sports Business Journal with its prestigious Forty Under 40 award in 2013. A native New Yorker, Bryce received his bachelor’s in business management from Emory University’s Goizueta School of Business and resides in Park Slope, Brooklyn with his wife, Daniela, and sons, Lucas & Leo.
