Lisa Carvalho is a beauty industry icon. Beauty has always been in Lisa Carvalho’s nature; from managing the three Lancôme locations within Bloomingdale’s flagship 59 Street store to her current position as Vice President of Public Relations for Maybelline New York, Garnier and essie divisions of beauty giant L’Oreal USA, Lisa attributes the success she has experienced in her lifelong career in the beauty and fashion industry to hard work along with putting her people first.
Blending her considerable communication skills with an uncanny ability to discover, nurture and develop the best in people, Lisa led the PR efforts of Maybelline New York, the biggest beauty brand in the world, as well as Garnier and essie for the last dozen years. Amongst her beauty accomplishments, she also played an instrumental role in creating synergies among PR and sales media functions to enhance the image of the company while also creating a greater impact with the consumer.
Prior to her tenure at L’Oreal, Lisa spent fifteen years at Clairol in trade and field-based marketing. She was the first to bring education to the field within Clairol Color Visions and she additionally managed the team responsible for creating iconic corporate philanthropy programs such as the Sea Breeze Awards and the Clairol Mentor Program. For the International division, Lisa was part of the on-the ground team that launched Clairol in Eastern Europe and Southeast Asia in the early 1990’s.
A proud community college graduate herself, Lisa firmly believes that anything is possible with the right ideas, the right attitude and hard work. “A leader has an obligation to her people—to help, to guide, to nurture, to cheerlead, to celebrate her success…essentially to pay it forward,” Lisa observes.
