Lexsey Marrara, an 18-year-old honor student from Morgantown, West Virginia is using her year as Miss West Virginia Teen USA to spread her message of compassion around the state. As a Special Education Assistant in her high school, Lexsey learned, and saw first hand, how these students struggle to fit in and she became determined to make a difference. Lexsey has recently authorized a children's book, based on her own experience of becoming best friends with a girl named Emilee, who suffers from severe autism. She is using this book as a tool in conjunction with a presentation, to reach out to elementary and middle school students across West Virginia. Drawing her inspiration from her own life changing experience, Lexsey is using her crown as a megaphone to spread her message of compassion. Her commitment and concern set a shining example for the young and old, leaving no doubt how Miss Teen USA contestants make our communities better places to live.
