Amanda Armstrong, 17, lives in Sioux City, IA. Amanda loves spending time with her family, especially her twin brother Grant. Her parents have taught her that if she works hard she can accomplish anything. Along with being a titleholder, Amanda works at Eldon’s Restaurant as a hostess and she detassels corn in the summer. She is a self-proclaimed nerd and places a high priority on her education. Because of high test scores in math and science, Amanda has been nominated to receive the National Academy of Future Physicians and Medical Scientists Award of Excellence in Washington, D.C. Amanda's professional goal is to become a pediatrician. Her favorite things about being a titleholder is that she has become more involved in charities and she has the opportunity to be a role model for young girls. Amanda has started a chapter of Girl Talk in her community. Girl Talk is a program in which high school girls mentor junior high school girls to promote self esteem and community involvement.
