Jeannie Mai is best known as the host of The Style Network’s two-time Emmy nominated television program “How Do I Look?” More than just a fashion-intervention show, Mai empowers women to discover their true beauty, overcome their insecurities and employ fashion to give them the confidence they need to help achieve their career goals. Mai was also recently seen as the digital correspondent for the hit NBC show “Fashion Star,” connecting viewers to the mentors, contestants and stylists through the web. After hosting the 2011 MISS UNIVERSE® Competition in Brazil, she was named as the on-camera fashion expert tasked with contestant makeovers on NBC’s hit franchise “Biggest Loser.” This opened the door to her hosting the 2012 Golden Globe Awards NBC pre-show live on the red carpet and co-hosting the 2012 Emmy Awards this year as she streamed live from the red carpet chatting it up with celebrities about all things fashion.
Before becoming a television personality, Mai was a celebrity makeup artist and stylist from San Jose, CA. Throughout her career she has worked with celebrities including Sarah Jessica Parker, Alicia Keys, Jennifer Aniston, Kelly Osbourne and Christina Aguilera. After gaining attention for her spunky personality and knack for style, Mai became an entertainment reporter and producer for WB’s “Daily Mixx.” Her big break came when she was tapped as the host of “Character Fantasy” on USA Network and eventually became a regular correspondent for “Extra.”
Mai has made it her mission to inspire, educate and empower women, receiving rave reviews as a speaker on the main stage at Maria Shriver’s The Women’s Conference. Of Vietnamese and Chinese descent, Mai strives to give back to her homeland by frequently traveling to Asia to volunteer her time with inspiring organizations dedicated to helping those who are less fortunate. While abroad she works with Heartbeat Vietnam, a non-profit devoted to improving health care for impoverished children and NightLight International, an organization committed to rescuing women and children from sex trafficking and prostitution rings by providing them employment and vocational opportunities.
In addition to her flare for fasion, Mai is a hardcore foodie who is on a constant search to find the world’s most delicious meals. Through her web site, www.IHeartJeannieMai.com, Mai documents her culinary adventures and opinions through colorful video blogs for her fans.
