Jimmy Nguyen

BIO

Jimmy Nguyen is a prominent entertainment and new media lawyer, equal rights and diversity advocate, motivational speaker, media commentator and budding producer and technologist. With a history of excelling early, Nguyen graduated college at age 19 and law school at age 22. At only age 36, he was named by Lawdragon as one of the 500 Leading Lawyers in America. In 2012, The Huffington Post listed Nguyen as one of the “Most Influential LGBT Asian Icons.” In 2010, The Advocate magazine named him to its “Forty under 40” list of leading LGBT persons in America.

In his law life, Nguyen is a partner at Davis Wright Tremaine LLP, where he handles a range of entertainment, new media, intellectual property, advertising, and technology matters. Nguyen’s clients have included leading companies such as BBC Worldwide Americas; the BODOG worldwide online gaming organization; Del Monte Foods Company; the Hot Topic retail chain; Kia Motors America; Journal Communications; Major League Baseball Properties; Monster Energy Company; and even figure skating star Johnny Weir.

Nguyen uses his life journey as an immigrant to the United States, an Asian American and an openly gay man to be a strong voice for diversity and individuality. He serves on the Board of Directors for the California Minority Counsel Program and previously served on the Board of Equality California. In the world of performance arts, Nguyen co-founded the American Readers Theater Association. He is a creative producer for it gets better, a new touring musical and theater stage work based upon the renowned IT GETS BETTER PROJECT to combat bullying of LGBT youth. Nguyen is currently developing other media, entertainment and technology projects.
